Greetings, Current and Prospective Arcata School District Families!
Thank you for making the Arcata School District your district of choice. The District has a long history of providing top-notch educational opportunities for area students. Ongoing community support and partnership is truly making a difference for our students. The District prides itself on serving all students and serving a representative student population. On average, ASD students outperform their counterparts countywide and statewide on state assessments in math and English!
If you live outside of our district boundaries you will need to apply for an Inter-District Transfer in order to attend Arcata Elementary School or Sunny Brae Middle School. To request an Inter-District Attendance Transfer for your child, complete the form below and submit it to your District of Residence. You may also submit forms to AES or SBMS, or the District Office (1435 Buttermilk Lane, Sunny Brae). We are happy to help! Call us at (707) 822-0351, ext. 101 for assistance.
New requests submitted between December 1, 2023 and February 1, 2024 are assured of approval by the District of Residence, subject to reasonable enrollment activities. If both districts approve and families agree to any additional terms and conditions required by the districts, students may enroll in their District of Proposed Enrollment.
If one or both districts deny a transfer, parents/guardians may appeal the decision with the Humboldt County Office of Education (HCOE) within 30 days of the denial. For information on the appeal process, visit the HCOE website or call (707) 440-9501.
